You should not be going to university if ..(cont)

  • You think 3 Cs is too high a grade.
  • You have applied for a degree, yet don't know what BA or BSc means (and haven't bothered to look it up)
  • You complain about prospectuses being 'all writing and no pictures', 'with really small writing and all'
  • You do not understand that when someone says 'bullets', in reference to your earlier comment about 'bulletpoints', they are using a contraction rather than referring to actual bullets.
  • you can't get a C in the subjec you want to study at A level (barring specific problems, illness, drugs, cunty teachers, etc)
I don't believe in discrimination, but - isn't it just reasonable to not allow the stupid to go to university?

Govt. wants 50% of people with a higher education qualification. This does include NVQs and vocational qualifications, but it also involves a fuck of a lot of 3rds in media studies, classics, or passes in philosophy (hello adam!). Learning is good. but they're not learning. they're just bumming around, scraping passes so they can booze. why use educational resources for that?

we should convert the old polys, aka new unis with names of counties and campuses all over the place, into halls of residence for people with their first jobs. that way people can have the uni experience - living like battery chickens, draping bodily fluids over everything in sight, subsidised booze - and not bother even making motions towards going to classes.
if you want to study something intensively for 3 years with specialists, you shoudl either care deeply about it or be good at it. preferably both.
