Big plate o' lame with a side of scattered

I am still here, more or less. I just haven't had time to do much online of late. I've become a multi-tasking fool (or a fool who multitasks...), but lj never seems to make the cut beyond reading and then short comments. So, sorry!

I'm down to less than 2 months left here at Dunder Mifflin. It's become a really evil place and I'm not going to miss it. Got my 10 years of service in, collected my silver plate necklace that weighs about a pound per year I've been here, and now I'm ready to go. Haven't given my official notice to HR because I'm hoping that there will be a layoff in the not too distant future so I can get some kind of package before I go. And not just a box of paper...

So, in light of that circumstance, I'm trying to get the freelance business planning mostly complete before I exit stage left. It's going slowly thanks to my Fall allergies kicking my ass and sucking up any "extra" time I might have to do said planning. Fall allergies for me means scratching the hives that have blossomed all over me (yes, *all* over) while I wait for my little green pill to do its work. All hail Hydroxyzine and it's miracle anti-itchiness properties!

Beyond that, all is generally well. We have a meeting tomorrow with the school department about whether or not Monkey qualifies for preschool so he can get the speech therapy he needs. I'm sure he'll continue to dazzle them with his antics and impress them with his new Teletubbie influenced accent. Should be a fun time all the way around. Girlie is still doing really amazing work in her afterschool painting class. It's the best $90 I've ever spent on her. One of these days I'll have to scan her paintings so I can share it with you guys.

Halloween went well. Monkey was Aang and Girlie was Katara--both from The Avatar. My mom did the costumes and they came out pretty good. Monkey refused to wear his Aang hat though, so he probably looked a little more like Winnie the Pooh. Still, it was fun to watch him try to keep up with the big, candy-focused kids. And for the first time in 3 years, it wasn't raining for trick or treat. We ran out of candy within an hour.

Casey is still the bestest dog evah! I took him out into the woods on a friend of mine's property (she's got around 60 acres of wooded land complete with trails and small bodies of water) and he had a great time. It's so much fun to watch a dog run and leap with abandon. I watched him peek over the top of a ledge and then leap down the rather high embankment into a pond before I could even register what he had done. Then he was back with me and shaking off before I could see the trail to get down there to make sure he was ok. Nut. Needless to say, after an hour of following scent trails, tennis ball retrieving, and splashing in and out of puddles and streams, he slept really well that night.

Oh, I managed to kill one of Monkey's birthday goldfish, Nemo. Poor thing didn't last a month. I knew I shouldn't be trusted with living things... Pishy seems to be hanging in there though, although I suspect he's going to be suffering from PTSD after having spend the good part of a day watching his dead fish-friend swirl in the wake of the filter over his head. Nemo was buried at sea with honors via sewer system.

When I'm not working on a website for my buddy Hoover and his BFF Just-Sean for their paranormal Maryland venture, or being jealous that cretkid has had time to work on our story giving it such a great start, I'm sneaking in BSG (thank the Gods, they are back in space. I don't think I liked the landlocked eps so much.), and Torchwood (Oh, Captain Jack, how I love you so...). Also grateful that House is back on at 9 when the kids are asleep.

Beyond that, just doing life's little doggie paddle. Hope all is well in LJ land. :)
