Finished -- "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" and "Drowned" by Junot Diaz
Oscar Wao reminded me strongly of "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" -- told in the same style, where the author is the first person narrator most of the time, with many references to interviews of other characters, in the same genre. "Wao" did not end with the death-scene, though, which I actually felt was a mistake. I lost interest after the death and forced myself to continue. Your mileage may vary.
"Wao" is a very good book, though. Well worth the read.
While at first I thought "Wao was an homage to "Chronicle" (and it may still be), "Drowned" showed me that Diaz has been playing with this particular style for a long time.
