Oddity

Noticed something over the last few days.

I'm now cycling to work, for reasons of health and fitness. It's only about 2 miles each way, so not a huge amount of excercise, but better than none at all.

So, anyway, I've noticed that the ride into work is much much harder work than the ride home, during which I can mostly 'coast'. The ride in seems mostly uphill and the ride home mostly downhill.

Doesn't sound too odd? Well it is when you add the fact that I work right next to the Thames, and travel perpendicular to it. So I cycle uphill to the river, and downhill away from it.

Surely that can't be right... I can't be living below sea level, right?
