Name : Silverburgh, Meryl
Game/Series: Metal Gear Solid
Age & Teaching Position: 21/ Sewing
Living Arrangements: Dorm
Personality:
The three words that would describe Meryl are “Patriotic”, “Straightedged”, and “Touchy”. She is serious as death when it comes to her jobs as teacher and peacekeeper between the persons at the school. She tends to shrug off various activities and emotions (mainly love), as a “waste of time”.
She is, however, a kindhearted and loving person, if not the most patient or friendly. If you REALLY get on her bad side, however, she will make it known, and WILL make you regret it. She tends to be protective of students, due to her emotional and professional obligation to do so.
Meryl can be wise-assed at time, and if there is a remark about a person's flawed logic or sheer stupidiy, she will be the first to say it. She really doesn't mean any harm by it, however.
She also has no regard for gender differences, and will frequently attempt to recruit males to her class.
Backstory:
Meryl is the “niece” of Colonel Roy Campbell. When she was young, her “father” died, and Meryl took on her mother's maiden name. She was raised by he mother and “uncle”, and quickly came to regard FOXHOUND as her role models.
It didn't take long for Meryl to realize she was extremely different from other girls her age. While other girls were playing with dolls or putting on makeup behind their parents backs, she was giving herself tattoos and learning how to use firearms. She quickly became distanced from others, and came to believe that she had to become a soldier to become closer to her dead father, and because it was the only place she belonged.
She joined the military upon leaving high school, and was stationed in FOXHOUND as an emergency replacement. Though she refused to receive any sort of gene therapy, she received extensive psycotherapy to eliminate her interest in men.
Not long after, Liquid started the infamous FOXHOUND rebellion, which Meryl refused to have any part of. She was imprisoned, but then broke out by seducing and than knocking out the guard.
She then met Snake, who seemed to expose her for the insecure teenager she really was. Somewhere along their endeavor to stop Liquid Snake, she was brainwashed by Psycho Mantis in an attempt to disarm and defeat Snake. Psycho Mantis failed and died, and was unable to completely undo the brainwashing.
Later on, Sniper Wolf shot and captured her, and she was tortured by Ocelot. However, she was rescued, and she and Snake lived happily ever after.
Until the brainwashing wore off.
It didn't take long for Meryl to leave and go about her business in the military, and the two eventually lost contact.
Some time later, a certain fighting school caught the eyes of the military, due to the sheer number of ex-soldiers, foreign political figures, and other notable persons there. Having other priorites, they sent in Meryl to make sure the school stays relatively peaceful ((GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.)) Several weeks, and dozens upon dozens of inconclusive background checks later, Meryl set out to her new position.
Anything Else?:
Meryl couldn't find background information for half of the school, and seriously doesn't believe the other half.
When she was eight, she gave herself a tattoo of FOXHOUND's insignia. ((Nice parenting there, Colonel.))
Why yes, I do munsterbate a lot.
Meryl is based on a Policenauts character with the same name, personality, and appearance.
Though she never explicitly told Snake that her affection for him was due entirely to Psycho Mantis, it can only be assumed he figured it out when Meryl woke up at three AM screaming because of the trauma of coming out of the brainwashing, and the realization that she was living with a lush fifteen years older than her.
Meryl is going by the inconspicuous and untraceable alias of “Mary Silvers”
Meryl seriously spends any spare time she manages to find either sewing, working out, or practicing with firearms.
In-Character Example Post:
{Private to self: Level 5 unhackable}So I have to teach at a high school now. Alright, I can handle this. Sure, I'm going to have to not only teach a bunch of girls who probably have no idea what the practical implications of sewing are, but make sure each and every person here is save, but I can manage... right? {/private}
Hello students, I am you new sewing teacher, Ms. Mary Silvers. I know sewing is typically regarded as “femine”, but I assure you, I will make no discriminations if any males choose to attend my class. Teachers are also welcome to attend, and I hope to see anyone interested in my class later this week.
