For all his carefully crafted cynicism, some small, poetical part of him still thinks that matters. Still thinks the world works like that. And she loves him for it.
"First your mum. Now you. 's not right."
"No, it's not." And, in this moment, hates him for it.
"We'll fight it." Just like that, his back has straightened. Fire in his eyes.
Now, that's what she needs from him. "Damn right."
