[And yes, Riku is going to be headed over to visit Varric now. And do you know what he's carrying with him? Do you?

No. No, you don't. Because Riku is carrying a bottle of ale with him, as well as a cup from the stable tower. Since that walk was too long and all.

He lets himself into the chapel, casting a glance around for Varric.]

Varric, are you in here?

[Varric's in one of the alcoves on the first floor, but he looks up from the journal when he hears someone entering, and pokes his head out at the mention of his name.]

Over here, Silver.

[His voice is hoarse, but better than it'd been a little bit ago. He hasn't quite noticed what Riku's carrying yet, but he'll be elevated up to one of Varric's favorite people when he does.]

[And Riku's headed that way! Varric may be feeling better, but he still doesn't sound all that great. Still, once he gets close enough, Riku holds up the bottle to show to Varric, and if he looks close enough, he -just might- be able to see the barest hints of a smirk on his face.]

I figured since you never made it over there yourself...

[He stands, feeling only the slightest bit of dizziness, which is cleared with a quick head shake. And then he spots the bottle and grins, which only widens when he catches what's quite possibly an almost smirk.]

Well, look at you. Coming to check in on me and bearing gifts. I'm speechless.

[Except, no, he's really not. But he is pretty damn pleased. Yeah, definitely one of his favorite people.]

[Her voice sounds off. Dazed. There is little inflection in her tone.]

[A pause. A long pause.]

Zhaneel says She knew you would get better too. You were both meant to get better. Now we can all fly together. [It makes perfect sense to her, anyway.] You will make a lovely angha.

Varric. Thank you. I am so happy neither of you died. It seemed almost certain, didn't it?

[His voice is still hoarse and scratchy, but he switches to audio for this, because, oh, crap. Varric's own hallucinations are a little blurry, but this sounds really familiar.

When did he leave Aara? Where did he leave Aara? That's fuzzy, too, and now he's worried.]

Yeah, Birdie, I'm okay.

You don't sound so good, though.

[What Varric didn't hear is the massive sigh of relief beforehand.]

Oh, not for nothing. By all means, continue with whatever memorial service you had planned for my imminent doom. All in the name of research.
