I told my dad that I'm considering continuing working at Kinokuniya in the Merchandising Department full-time after I finished my Masters, and instead of a show of support (my aunts were excited for me when I told them, thinking that it's the perfect job for me), my dad said, "Yes, but can they pay you befitting your MA level? I think job satisfaction is infinitely more important than monetary gain; I had a fairly high-paying job (well for a fresh grad la) just so that I could justify my Japanese Linguistics degree, but ya I hated it.

I think you should go back to Kino, and work your way up the financial ladder instead.

I actually have no idea what to do after I finish my studies...and I mean the studies after my Master's degree so ya. But I'll have at least a coupla more years to think it through haha

As you said, because of your MA and teaching experience, you'll always be able to get back into the teaching trade later in life. So go for the Kino offer.

Thanks, that's what I thought as well. It's not like I'm wasting my MA, cos I want to eventually teach. It's just that I don't want to settle down just yet, and I do sincerely like working at Kinokuniya, despite my complains. I mean, what magical job there is in the world that does not make you wanna rant anyway? Besides, all I want is a nice small apartment and a small local car (something like Kelisa), so I really think that job satisfaction is important. But try telling that to my dad D:

You still have time, and for now, look to getting into Oxford! I really, really think you can do it, honest.

Wanna meet up tomorrow? I still have your PL ya know.

You dowan a Chevy ar haha

I think at your age you should still be at least trying to do something you want to do, and do something more...boring? And reliable when you're older? Like 50s haha fer serious. Youth is the time to be experimenting because people look at you funny when you older, ho

did you know my supervisor used to a journalist in Singapore when he was younger? haih sounds so cool see that's the sort of thing you should be doing, and only do boring things like teach (I honestly cannot see myself teaching haih why am I doing my MA again) when you're older so ya

I don't know what to do after my D.Phil (I don't know what university will take me in yet, so I'd rather say "doctorate" than say Oxford because ya...don't wanna jinx it D:)

Actually I want to be a cake decorator .________. not a baker, but a cake decorator, I love decorating cakes sfm

Sure! I'll be in uni from 9 so just come find me in the library, level 4 when you be reachin' ho

ya I completely forgot I bought that book believe it or not

On friday la ye, cos I wanna go see Puan Siti anyways, and hopefully I'll sleep the PMS away tonight.

Everytime I sit/stand up I literally saw dots or flashes of light. I think God is trying to talk to me (A.K.A. worst migraine ever).

Sure! Let me know in advance if you want to pull a Mashy on me, not on the day itself haha

Yea I know the feeling, had that when I had my toothache. I hate migraines because nothing seems to work. The Panadol worked for all of 30 minutes and then it was back to Hell. Couldn't even look at the computer screen and the lights super hurt my eyes. Couldn't listen to music because the sound made my head pound. Sucks man. Some more because it's not physically manifest, like say, a wound which is visible, sometimes people think that you're just trying to get attention or whatever haih

So ya I'm glad it's not me! But I know the feeling. Go and sit down in a dark room with a pillow on your head, that kinda worked for me. Oh and moan a lot.

Sure, will confirm again with you on Thursday ya.

I know! You don't wanna whine cos people can't see the wound or stuff but it hurts SO BAD that you HAVE to moan out loud and annoy people.

Oh, definitely not just you. The worst migraine to date. I think I'll go to sleep now. Night!

Woohoo, journalist! So cool...in Singapore even! One of my UIA lecturers also said to try out new jobs and stuffs before settling on a permanent career i.e. lecturing. She used to be a stewardess (very pretty mah).

Cake decorator is the PERFECT job for you, seriously! Your Christmas cupcakes are so so pretty! Surely there's a shop or company that would hire you as a cake decorator? And you already have so many references!

Your PL is 100.00 how can you forgeeeet

Ya lor haih if I was him, I would continue being a journalist instead of teaching Augustan and Medieval English Literature, but that's just me D:

I wanted to be an air stewardess but by the time I found out, it was too late (you can only be a stewardess until your early 20s or something and I was already 21, fml). You make a lot of money man! I have a fren who worked for SIA. But she said it's a sleazy industry la.

I want to be a cake decorator but I don't think anyone will take me in since I don't have the Wilton certificate (it's like qualifications for cake decorators) and am self-taught. But I can do all those things the Wilton people do wat! Except for the Van Gogh cake...oh and the naked guy with chest hair with the "HAYY LAYDEES" expression cake haha

I spend money like it's...money? Haha and I already have two copies of PL so another one is not exactly something I'd remember haha

Selamat ber-rekuperasi haha
