So we rushed to Amcorp Mall, which is 10 minutes away from our office and since it’s Friday and Fridays lunch breaks are long, we took our time. But not too leisurely, because we haven’t eaten the nasi ayam (chicken rice) at the shop there for so long that we pretty much drooled at the thought. Plus, other than the pathetic slice of duck bread I didn’t have anything for breakfast. So you’ll understand my frustration at my car when upon parking, its break lights didn’t turn off.
It’s bizarre. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, the lights in general wasn’t on, and yet there the red light continue to shine in our faces. After an impatient consultation with my dad via phone, he said that the wiring had probably fried, but the battery should be enough to last for the rest of the day. I was pretty worried but the smell wafting from the chicken rice shop made me push the worry aside. Which will come and bite me in the butt later. I believe this is what the cool kids call an important plot point.
Mona and I pretty much ran to place our orders because seats are notoriously hard to get at the shop during lunch hour, so it was with GREAT SATISFACTION that we plonked our nasi ayam on the nearest table and began devouring our respective dishes. The conversation was pretty much 100% regaling about the virtues of nasi ayam, especially this particular nasi ayam from this particular shop. Seriously, we just don’t get people who dislike nasi ayam. Our brains cannot compute.
After we pretty much inhaled our food the rest of the lunch hour went by pleasantly. We did our usual rounds: Romantika, mini market that sells cheap secondhand gifts, BookXcess, fake!Payless Bookstore, etc. I even scored a British GQ magazine where they list their Men of the Year 2011, and in which Benedict Cumberbatch was named GQ Best Actor. I won’t love you as much as I love Chris, but you sure know how to make a girl swoon, Ben.
As we made our way to my car we noticed the brake lights were still on. No biggie, will check it later. Until I pressed on the remote control for the locks and it didn’t open, and upon opening the doors manually I found the car won’t start. At all. Mona and I were stuck in a car park in the fifth level while our lunch hour is coming to an end.
Well fuck. I feel like curling up and cry.
