i agree with a lot of what jake is talking about. i can't speak for the female gender in general, but personally, (even though i feel like an asshole admitting this...) i think guys who are jerks initially end up doing better later. people like "the chase"... yeah, but it's more complicated than that. for example when i meet a guy who is arrogant and being a jerk it's intriguing because subconsciously, i believe that i can get this person to like me and treat me differently than other people... it's sort of like it's a challenge. on the other hand, "nice" guys (in my mind) are probably nice to everyone and it doesn't make me feel special if he's being nice to me too. i don't go through these thought processes consciously when i meet someone... but my subconscious first impression is usually what determines if i could ever have feelings for a person. (most) girls aren't going to be with/put up with a guy who is going to be a jerk to them all the time. i think it just makes a girl feel special and good about herself when a guy who seems like a jerk at first treats her really well later.
