The political state of our generation

May 16, 2005 21:06

I know most of you guys are probably not interested in this but I am really disheartened by two things.

1) I don't think that there is enough political discussion with people of this generation, and when there is you get the extremeist assholes who are actually really uneducated about what they are trying to argue, and even though at times I do agree with thier stance, I just want to bring up the counter argument to show them how fucked up thier logic is.

2) Because of 1, the media is being dominated by issues that are not relevant, so the real issues are being masked. If you don't know by now, the Social Security issue is being brought up because the Bush administration is trying to cover up the TRILLION dollar deficitm or that pesky war. Notice how all the bad press of the war comes from the Iraqi side? How about that whole oil drilling thing in Alaska? Does anyone realize that more drilling would just worsen our nation's dependance on oil (in regards to Bush, he has been stepping up with more alternative fuel research.)

Just a few things to consider.

Also, being a moderate, it is so funny to read extreme right and left news/ magazine articles, knowing that I have the ability to mimic both types of writing.
