Urkh.
Stomach rebelling. Not going to Harmony class. I am doing everything I can not to puke, because I have made a resolution not to puke in this apartment. I HATE vomiting.
I also made a resolution last night not to miss any classes, but you can see how well that's going. I am going to set a rule for myself: for the three 1 time a week three-hour classes, I am allowed to miss one class of each. That's it. And for the one hour three times a week class, I can miss two. Of which I've already missed one. And I'm using up my missing Harmony class today, but I need it.
I've gotten into a bad habit of not falling asleep until 3 or 4, and then waking up at 7 or 8 to do work. I'm not sleeping much and I'm not doing as good of quality of work as I know I can do. I've also stuck myself into this bind of doing the work for a class the day before, which is bad because a) I feel stressed and under a deadline and b) there's more work than can be done in just one day. I'm finally starting to come to terms with how hardcore these damn classes are.
And so though I feel like ass, this is a much-needed work-day for Mauro's class. Thankfully I did a bunch of work on it yesterday, so I know how to cite the operas [which isn't actually citing, it's just a list. Why the hell did he say to "cite" them? I spent three hours trying to find the original publishers of obscure operas written 400 years ago, only to find out we didn't need them. And everything's in fucking Italian].
So. To do for today:
- Finish "citing" [aka listing "the title as it appears below, also the location of the library, the name of the library, and the shelf number. (Le Nozze di Teti e di Peleo, I-Vnm, Shelf No: It.IV,365.)] the Cavalli operas
- Use the Scriabi book to cite [or "cite"? Gargh] the Cavalli librettos.
- Put these together and print
- Reread the Taruskin piece and take notes
- Create handout from notes: summary, general opinion, further reading [Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, Mozart in the Jungle, Stuff White People Like #108, maybe Jewry in Music? Try to find four or five]
- Call mom and do a mock-presentation to her
- Die!
- I forgot - before dying, e-mail Andy the gmail address to add it to the permissions list for the wiki
- Oh, and call Health Services about the fucking medical records, and make appointments for scripts. Do this before calling Mom.
