Well it's 2022 and I'm diarying again this year! I didn't think last year had been that eventful until I looked back at my facebook feed for the year, so keeping a record is definitely worth doing. Katie's looking forward to the monthly "Husband Reports" I used to do as well to summarise each month.
Anyway, this year went off to a cracking start. Midnight itself was just a family affair at home, dancing in the living room with Katie and the kids. I read for a bit before sleeping, woke up around 7ish and read a bit more.
I'm currently reading "Around the World in 80 days" because it's Jules Verne and I've never read it, and also because there's a BBC adaptation on tv at the moment that isn't much like the book. I'm really enjoying it, it's a really good read.
I got up and weighed myself. 12 Stone 1.2, and 19.8% body fat. I want to measure the fat part of my belly too but that tape measure is buried somewhere in my bedroom, so that can wait a few days.
After that I played with the action camera that Katie got me for Christmas! A real life action camera! I tried lots of settings and played with the accessories. Then I attached the head accessory and went for a run! I learned that the looping mode for runs is unnecessary and to just record normally. I learned that having it on your head looks weird, and that the sound is distorted. Next I'll try it as a chest cam.
The run was good. It's been way too long but outside warm ups I was still running at about 9:30 minute mile, which I'm comfortable with for an easy run. My garmin coach isn't convinced I'll hit the 1:44 target for a March half marathon, but to be honest I'd be happy if I managed it at all during the year. It's meant to be a tough target.
I had coco pops for breakfast and logged it on my fitness pal. I had all intentions of logging all my food, and avoiding snacks, and I did quite well until we went to mum's for lunch. It was a proper Christmas dinner and I don't believe in calorie counting things like that. We had a really lovely time although Zach got into a bit of a mood which soured things slightly. Mum and Ian are so understanding of him though. They spoil him and he loves them.
We tried to get a load of home stuff done before mum's. Like we had to get the Ikea stuff out of my car or we couldn't have driven to mum's. I had a shower but then got sweaty again dismantling Zach's bed and chucking the wood down the stairs. We got most of that done and then finished when we got back.
I also took some time sitting down to do some Clothing Coventry work. Sue had drafted a document around the good partnership working that Carriers of Hope had done with Clothing Coventry, and I tweaked it and sent it to the lottery people. Hopefully it will help our case. We'll find out next week.
After Zach's room I sat down with Katie and Lizzie to watch Doctor Who. It was a really good episode! I very much liked it! Katie and Lizzie wanted to watch a Harry Potter Quiz thing afterwards but I was feeling tired and went to bed. Zach was in our room and stayed for a bit so we had some nice chats and cuddles. I read a bit more and played angry birds before Zach went and I went to sleep.
A few other things to mention:
I deleted the social media apps from my phone. I checked on my PC a couple of times, which is fine, it's much less addictive than the phone thing.
Possibly related is that I racked up a really high XP on duolingo yesterday (481) and finally got through the "Food" section.
I messaged some friends to say Happy New Year, and messaged Sarah about running.
No church this week but I messaged church leadership to say happy new year. God wise I read "Word for Today" and prayed for Katie. There are moments where she hits rock bottom and I don't know whether she'll crawl her way back up, yet somehow she does. I told God that if he wants to show me a miracle, then Katie would be the area in my life to do it.
I fed the dog. She's still peeing in the kitchen!
