Hello, new people on my lj!
So hello there, many people I don't know who have friended me! I am so flattered! That said, you probably haven't seen anything in my journal because it is almost entirely friends-only! You might also be aware of this if you had read my profile, in which I say, "I'm a fairly private person so I don't usually add anyone I don't already know irl. If you want to friend me, please email me/comment first."
Very rarely I do friend people who I don't know irl, but I like to know a little bit about them first because I discuss personal things in this journal--my life, my medical conditions, my blindness, my academic work in-progress, my marriage--and I don't always share those things with complete strangers. So if you have recently friended me, but have not emailed/commented, please do that and let me know who you are. I very well may friend you back--I just want to have some idea who is reading my innermost thoughts. So if you want to get friended back, please email/comment and tell me at least some basic things about you like:
your gender
your approximate age
your career
what you think we might have in common
For my part, although you can figure this out by reading my interests list, I am blind, female, late-20s, lesbian, married, geeky, and a liberal academic, and if any of those things are offensive to you, you probably don't want to be reading this journal! ;)
So there you go--you know a little about me--now tell me a little about yourself, or I'm afraid this is the last post you'll be reading in this journal!
EDITED TO ADD: thank you latinanewschic, for emailing me with a description of yourself and letting me know my journal was set to only let friends comment (I didn't realize that and lo, I am teh dumbe, the extra e is for extra dumbe-ness!). I have rectified that, *anyone* should be able to reply to this, so now the rest of you who want me to friend you should reply to this entry and tell me about yourself!
