“Envy the Children”
The hero ends in blood-red sunset
Not graceful, peaceful,
But crashing down, with a spray of
Violent beauty soaking into eternity
There’s no time-
The good die young with Scarlet
Hands- no time to brood, no
Time to scar, no time to mourn
To think, to feel
(Fighting for peace is like
Screwing for virginity) -
The soldiers find time to joke
(Join the army, see the world!
Meet interesting people…
And kill them!) The good
Die young with Scarlet Hands
The pacifists are cowards, still
Soldiers might be bloody, but
Keeping wise the trial of life
We celebrate our heroes.
And we force down our jealousy
(it’s now a red-eyed monster) of how
We all, to spare ourselves
Would take a heroes’ sunrise
So we set before our hearts corrupt
Us, others, or ideals.
The good die young with Scarlet Hands-
As our love of ‘beauty’ so demands.
