I haven't made a real update in a little bit. My mom apologized for the harsh message she sent me; she's actually been doing things like that since I moved out. Apologizing, that is, not being harsh. She's always had the tendency to be harsh. It's only recently that she's taken interest in making amends for it. Unfortunately, Shannon and Greg have decided that they are engaged. I don't think too much of it: neither of them has a drivers' license, a car or any kind of credit history. They don't even have a way to see each other unless a friend with a car takes pity on them. So their engagement is much like two little kids playing pretend. I am acting very, very supportive on the premise that if I openly disapproved, that would add the "forbidden love" factor into the mix. I actually kind of DO want them to move out together, because the sooner they're around each other all the time, the sooner they'll realize that they can't stand each other. Then Greg won't be calling/texting/messaging me all the time.

My vacation started on Monday night. Shannon and I went to Catette's to help her make child-sized stretchy bracelets. After an hour or so, Shannon called Greg and talked to him way more than could ever be considered polite. As we were making bracelets, she described the beads she was using to him and he gave her a play-by-play of what was on TV, punctuated by long silences and giggling. It was the most inane conversation I've ever heard. When we decided to go to Taco Bell, they started making sexual references about wanting to eat each other's Taco Bell. At that point, I started miming hanging up the phone and saying, "Goodbye Greg. Goodbye." I think Shannon got the message. Ick.

On Tuesday, Catette came over pretty much as soon as I woke up (which was like, 1). We went to get my new drivers' license picture and almost got into a scary accident on the way when some jackass ran a red light in front of us. It was all for nothing, as I accidentally brought my renewal application instead of my camera card. (I renewed online). We had Subway, came back home, I grabbed the right paperwork and we went AGAIN. Somewhere along the way, I lost the starfish pendant from the necklace I bought off of Alisha in November. I was really bummed out about that. I got a decent drivers' license photo, aside from the huge honking zit on my chin. We decided to venture into the urban clubwear (or, umm, bootywear) store in the same shopping center as the license center. It was very different than anything I've seen. The plus-sized section was really picked through and pathetic, but I found a pair of pants for $20 that I absolutely had to have. I'm sure there is a name for the style, but I don't know it. They're brown fabric with laced-up legs which can be ruched to the wearer's taste. They're tight, but just the right amount: a flattering sort of tightness. When I tried them on, my starfish pendant literally fell out of NOWHERE (it must have been somewhere in my clothes) and shattered on the fitting room floor. That made me pretty sad.

After our shopping trip, we came back to the apartment to take pictures of the things Catette wants to sell on eBay. I accidentally picked up her car keys instead of my apartment keys, and as a result, we got locked out of my apartment. I had nothing on me but my huge freaking camera. She was wearing an elaborate bondage dress and no shoes. It was pretty awkward. Thankfully, my landlady was still in the leasing office and was able to loan me a spare. For my troubles, Catette gave me a lovely little vintage ring which has the look of opal (I'm sure it's not real) and fits on my pinky finger.

Today, Rebecca and I haven't done much. I managed to sleep until 4:30 PM, now I'm going to be up all night. Joy. I did do several loads of laundry and start packing for the lake house. Tomorrow, I have to clean out my car and my trunk. We're leaving early in the evening on Friday. The crew consists of myself, Rebecca, Catette, Cam, Pochi (Cam's dog), Amy and Dawn. Everyone is cramming into my car except Amy and Dawn, who will follow us up. I am really excited, but also sad that Christine and Aleister can't be there. I feel bad about using Christine's family's lake house without her.
