On Friday, I planned to leave work and go to Rebecca's for the weekend. When I pulled out of the parking lot after my shift, my "check engine" light came on. I thought, "hmm, that's peculiar" and drove for a bit. It stayed on, so I stopped at a gas station and did the only thing I actually know how to do with my car: I put oil in it. Three quarts. Because my funnel has been long-gone, I managed to spill a significant amount of it on the engine. I started driving again and smoke started coming out from under my hood from the spilled oil. I freaked out, thought my car was going to explode and pulled over. I ended up pulling over two more times to let the engine cool so the smoking would stop. When I got home, the "check engine" light was still on. It was too late at night to take it anywhere to be looked at, so I spent the night at home.
The next morning we dropped my car off at the neighborhood auto place and I went with my mom on some errands. The auto place called after a few hours to tell me that my car had a vapor leak which could only be located and fixed by the dealership. I called the dealership, but no one was there for the weekend. I was determined to go to Rebecca's, so I had my mom take me to the airport to rent a car. I got to drive a pretty red 2007 Nissan Sentra for two days. (I also almost got it hit by a fire truck, but that's another story).
I work at 9:30 AM tomorrow; my parents are giving me a ride, but I'm not sure if they'll be able to drop off my neon at the dealer while I'm gone or not. I have no clue when it will be fixed. I hope the dealer can give me a loaner car, otherwise I will have to rent another one. My job interview is on Wednesday morning and the location is much closer to Rebecca than to me, so I am going to stay at her place on Tuesday night and leave from there. Then I have to pick her up on Thursday after work, come back to my place, and have my mom drop us off at the Bieber Terminal to go to NYC. Career Fair is first thing on Friday morning, and then we have the afternoon and evening to do whatever before hopping back on a bus home.
In other news:
I've successfully sold my Falcon Ridge ticket now (though I had to eat $40 of the original cost), and I have two of the Florida Nightwish tickets up on eBay (I'll probably end up losing about $10 on each of them). I'm making a mental note for the future that impulse decisions to buy concert tickets for another state which isn't within driving distance are bad. I'm still going to buy tickets for Within Temptation in Philly whenever they go on sale.
We saw Hairspray last night. It's fucking amazing. You should go out and see it. (We also saw the Harry Potter movie last week, which kind of confused me because I've never read the books or seen the previous movies. It was kinda like, "Who are these people and what are they doing?" But... I intend to read the books as soon as I can actually afford to, if only because they're such a cultural reference point. I feel like I've been missing out on something).
