So, I have not descended into the bowels of sales-repdom quite yet, but my job seems to intend to make things as miserable as possible in the meantime by starting the entire staff on six-day workweeks, which may possibly continue all the way through the holidays. Usually, we have three mandatory six-day weeks in December, and that's all. Apparently this year, they want to have us all burnt out and homicidal by December.
Of course, now that I'm NOT at work, I don't know what the heck to do with myself. One can only play Farmville on facebook for so long.
Job search isn't yielding many results. I am mulling over the idea of going baack to school to become a dental hygienist. There is a two-year program at the local community college, and the median salary for a hygienist is twice my current pay. As for digging around in peoples' mouths, I'm pretty sure I could deal with it. I'm detail-oriented and like working with my hands. BUT, I look at some of the customers that come into my store now and think, "Could I handle digging in that particular person's mouth?" People with huge nose hair and poor hygiene and strange facial growths. I guess you get used to it. I need to better myself financially and career-wise, and taking a two dollar paycut to be a receptionist somewhere isn't gonna do it.
