I don't really keep up with politics, don't even really pay it a bit of attention till we get close to a presidential election,
but occasionally I'll catch myself watching MSNBC or CNN or whatever. Like now. The Democratic Candidates debate. And I have NO idea what they're talking about. None. I feel very out of the loop about it all. Still, just listening to them debating, they sound like children pointing fingers and blaming each other. That is amusing and extremely annoying at the same time. So what's up with Iran? They want weapons, now? But, from what little I follow, I don't really think Hillary has much of a chance of winning the Dem nomination. As interesting and forward as it would be, I just don't think that the country's ready and willing to have a female president yet. The debate kinda turned into a bash-Hillary party. So if she did end up becoming president, would Bill be First Man? Gentleman? Huh. Obama's a little iffy, too I think, but I like him, he's very articulate. I still think John Edwards is adorable, though he seems like a very big picture kinda guy. I like the experience that Bill Richardson has too. There seems to be an obvious age difference in the candidates this time around. I've not really heard of most of the grey-haired guys, but the younger candidates seem to be getting more coverage. If we could just combine the good bits and experience from each of them, we'd have one hell of a president. But we should just all vote for Stephen Colbert and be done with it! Ha, yeah.
So, who's running for the Republicans?
Hah, omg, they asked Kucinich and Obama if they believe in aliens and ufos! They asked them but not the governor of New Mexico. Kucinich said he saw one..."Where's Rudy Giuliani when you need him? He could've helped you out with that one" - Sen. Biden told him.
And apparently Obama is thinking of going as Mitt Romney for Halloween tomorrow...
"I think as presidential candidates, we should be in 'tell-the-truth' mode, all the time." - Sen. John Edwards
"What we don't need is another eight years of bickering." - Sen. Barack Obama
"I'm the only one up here blah blah blah..." - Every frickin' one of 'em.
"There's only three things he mentioned in a sentence: a noun, a verb, and 9-11." - Sen. Joe Biden on Rudy Giuliani's under-qualifications for running for president. Heh, he's amusing...
Georgia got a mention! They made it to environmental topics and asked Sen. Dodd about something and brought up that several large cities (mine!) are in danger of running out of water from our lake because of the drought. I have no idea what his answer had to do with that, I think it was just an example, but still. Yeah, so we got like till January before the lake dries up completely if we don't get some significant rain, especially since we still have to let out water through the dam to go down toward Alabama and Florida. A couple of counties recently instated a full outdoor water ban, rather than just a limited one. Some car washes are being shut down, landscapers are taking a big hit. Luckily it hasn't gotten to that point in my county yet, though. Last I heard, we were only a few feet away from the lake being the lowest it's ever been.
Anyway, so I have to work 1-11 tomorrow, so no Halloween-y stuff for me. Hopefully we'll get some interesting characters coming in from whatever, though, that'd be cool. I think I'll go to Wal-Mart and get myself some Halloween candy or something festive. And I'm gonna wear my (unfinished) costume while watching Supernatural Thursday because I really like Halloween, so I gotta do something to be in the festive mood.
So, I ordered my MacBook Saturday, so it should be arriving within the next few days, so I'm ridiculously excited for that. It cost me a pretty penny, but it'll be loads better than my current pc laptop. I've even been dreaming about it getting here because I'm crazy like that. Ugh, I'm annoying myself with how excited I am.
So did anybody else follow that? Got any thoughts?
