The sad thing is, years ago when it started, it was really cutting edge with some very fine unknown animators. (And a few just getting well known animators like Seth MacFarlane) We all gathered with popcorn and angry voices and turned the theater into a mob scene not entirely unlike a rowdy Rocky crowd. It was great, often standing room only, and that was *still* fun. Then the quality started to go downhill. The crowds got smaller. There was still funny, but the funny was to be waited for, patiently while you watched the "meaningful" sorts of alternative animation. Then that just got to be tripe. The last Spike and Mike's festival I went to, I shit you not, had 8 people on a Sat. night. And 4 of those people were counting myself and the three friends I talked into going with me. Again, there was a bit of funny, but it was few and far between the just plan offensive crap. The only saving grace of the whole thing was Dr. Tran. At least, that's what kept my friends from lynching me.
In retrospect, I probably should have known better, but I had hoped beyond hope that the vetting process for the dvd would be a bit stricter, but turns out I was wrong.
I agree. A DVD I recently stumbled across, that was fairly funny was The Animation Show. I got a couple of laughs from it. Maybe you have already seen it and have enjoyed it. Hey bro have have you been otherwise? I miss ya.
I've been ok. Just working, you know? Not jet setting across Europe like other people I know. :)
We just got over a bout of sickness in the house with Lisa and I getting hit pretty hard and the girl just managing to get away with nothing more then a minor cough and sniffle.
Other then that, the normal sort of thing. The cats have taken turns being sick and one of them got shipped off to a new home, I'm working on pushing my way up the rankings of a small secret cult and the kid's grades have all been pretty good. The eldest is going to play violin at a contest in May, so she's hyped about that. My vacation is cutting short this year, so I don't know what we're doing about that.
