I almost died today.
No. Seriously.
I'm driving home from Westbrook this morning.
It was pretty early, considering I needed to have time to stop home and shower and change my clothes and stuff.
I'm driving the NoMo, because my car was at my mother's house.
Alright. So, I floor Shira's car to merge onto the highway, and once I get on, the stearing goes out. Completely. The car is swerving uncontrollable from the left to the right. All of this happening while merging onto the highway...
I try to pull over to the breakdown lane, but when I turn the wheel to the right, the entire car spins around and does a 180 so I'm now in the right lane, stopped, facing oncoming traffic.
At this point I cannot believe that I haven't hit anything. And the cars keep speeding by, zooming around me. How no one hit me I still don't understand. But whoa. That was scary as fuck.
So this guy that is behind me (Actually, because I turned around I guess he's in front of me) Pulls over to shoulder, gets out and tells me to back up into the shoulder, too. I feel stupid because I hadn't thought of that, but seriously. At that point I wasn't thinking anything. My brain was completely numb.
So now there are three people pulled over from my little doozie. Me. The guy behind me. And this random guy who... I really don't know who he was or where he came from, but he told me that he called the police, and then he left.
So I'm sitting in Shira's car. Sitting backwards on the highway. Talking to this guy who was the so fucking nice to me. He waited with me until the cop came, and then he said he had to leave. So he left, and even though I have no idea who he was, he's my favorite person in the world right now.
The police man was really nice, too. He checked out the car, and told me that he didn't think anything was wrong with it, so I should just go to school. The only problem we had was that my car was facing the wrong way. So... this is my favorite part of the story:
The police man shut down the right lane. Haha. For me. So I turned around on the highway, and I drove away. Mr. Copman followed me until the bridge, just to make sure I was okay. Which I was. And now, Shira's car is driving fine. I have no idea what happened. All I know is that sitting still in the middle of the highway, while huge trucks are racing towards you, after you twirl around in a gigantic circle is quite possibly the scariest thing that has ever happened to me.
I'm really happy that no one hit me, and I'm really happy that I didn't hit anything.
I've brushed a car against a fence, scraped the side of a car on a gigantic piece of ice, hit a deer, been in a 5 car pile up.... but this was, I think, the worst.
I'm really not a bad driver. I just have really bad luck.
RABBIT RABBIT.
