my feverish brain is having a party without me; also, recs!

I'm still sick. And I'm a lousy, miserable sick person. I like to whine a lot.

I'm also bored out of my mind. Oh, and sorry for neglecting to comment lately, but I have only skimmed through my flist since I don't wanna read any reviews or spoilers for the Half-Blood Prince. (I'm one of those people who don't read back covers in fear of spoilers, so. Forgive me? ♥)

So I decided to do a reclist instead! \o/

Jared/Jensen, binbangs 2009.

Lost and Found (nc-17, ~47,000 words) by mediaville . I know, I know, Everyone has read this already! But this was the first bb fic I read this year, so. And I loved it! I loved Jared on this especially! Jensen was a little OCC, but that's understandable, really. Enjoyable read, and a lovely verse. Read it!

Jensen Ackles is a shy, overweight songwriter whose body issues have prevented him from forming any real personal connections, and at thirty, he’s still unsure of his sexuality, and still a virgin. But when he signs up for an experimental obesity research program, he meets Jared Padalecki, a stunningly sexy fitness guru who slowly but surely changes Jensen’s life.

She's A Handsome Woman
(R, ~32,000 words) by hkath . I loved Jensen's pov in this. Very interesting, and I enjoyed it.

Jensen Ackles is a talented actor with a reputation for being difficult. When his friend Danneel is passed over for a role on a soap opera, he cross-dresses, auditions for the part - and gets it. As Jennifer Albee, he's got to deal with a jackass director and ridiculous plotlines, not to mention his blossoming friendship with actor Jared Padalecki, a single dad with a few surprises of his own. Basically a J2 retelling of Tootsie.
Say You're Mine
(NC-17. ~56,600 words) by belyste . If I'm totally honest with you, I have to admit that I almost stopped reading during the first part. I thought it was just so tacky? BUT the fic gets going after and it really doesn't disappoint! A lovely, lovely fic!
It takes his two best friends getting engaged to make Jared realize what’s missing in his own life, but once he figures it out, he’s a man on a mission: find true love or die trying. He’s not asking for much - just the perfect soul mate to spend blissful eternity with - so when a chance meeting drops Jensen into his life (and his lap), it seems like fate. But either Jensen missed that memo or fate seems to have other ideas, because nothing works out the way Jared planned. Based loosely on S1 of How I Met Your Mother, but you don't need to have seen that to know what's going on.

Palace of the Brine (NC-17, MPREG, ~41,500 words) by memphis86 . The seahorse!verse! \o/ I don't care what anybody tells me, I love mpreg fics when they are well written. And I adored this fic. I think she has done a great job with that verse, and the whole 'male pregnancy'-thing is handled with style, and what's most important, neither character actually starts acting like a girl while pregnant. <3

It's been five years since Jared Padalecki had his daughter, Eve thanks to a little miracle from an Egyptian fertility god. Now he and his partner, Jensen Ackles are raising her together in San Francisco, along with her other father, Chad Michael Murray; and everything seems to be moving along fine. Jared's working as a college art professor, and Jensen is still at Grace's Heart hospital, a resident OB-GYN. But when Jared decides to try for miracle number two, it seems to stir up some rough waters for everyone around him. Is this a blessing in disguise, or has Jared really set off a curse this time?
In Harm's Way (nc-17, ~85,000 words) by gatorgrrrl . A spy!au! \o/ and there's a plot! I loved reading this fic. I can honestly say, that I wished it would never end. She has such an eye for detail, and everything's just perfect. A very good read.

Jared Padalecki is living a quiet life in San Antonio until one day he is snatched off the street by two men. Enter Tom Delaney, CIA spy. Only that's not his real name. His real name is Jensen Ackles, and he needs Jared's help. Jensen and his team have been tracking a man named Alain Laurent, a terrorist disguised as a legitimate businessman. Only, they haven't been able to get close enough to him to gather any useful intelligence. They know that Laurent and his partner, Rafiq Abdul-Aziz, are planning something big -- and possibly explosive. They just don't know what and they don't know when. But they know that time is running out. That's where Jared comes in. With a little manipulation, Jensen convinces Jared to help. To use himself as bait to lure Laurent into revealing his secrets. But nothing is ever that simple. As Jensen and Jared become more than just professional colleagues, the stakes become even higher. And when their mission takes an unexpected turn, Jensen must decide between love and duty, with devastating consequences.
I still have only read three or four bandom bigbangs. I just have major trouble starting to read them, and well, maybe I'll just save them for later. So when it's cold and windy and miserable outside, I can curl up in my couch and read them while drinking tea. Sounds like a plan, eh? ♥
