I'm in your camp. If the request fits the night, it should be played if you have it. Maybe not right away, but try to work it in. For example, at Sex Dwarf: if somebody requests, say, Michael Jackson or Journey, I tell them in a nice manner that while that is a good request (you may think it sucks but you shouldn't tell them that), I do not have it with me as it does not fit the theme of the night -- and remind them what the theme of the night is. Maybe it is their first time there and they genuinely don't know! At that point, I ask them to think of something else they might like and if I have it and it fits, I go ahead and play it

I'm in agreement with playing requests if it fits in with what you are doing. If a person asks for something not within the bounds of what "m playing that night, I make a list of suggestions, and nine times out of ten, they go with one of them.
