i have edited ever so slightly and unlocked, if that's ok?
i wanted to link some english articles to this but i couldn't find any yesterday and i'm heading out to work now so i don't have enough time. unfortunately the english wiki doesn't have an article about her and i'm afraid non-italian people don't have access to info to understand how important she has been for the nation for the last 30 years. :( she's the one that fought (and won, in 1982) to have a law that regulates trans surgeries/bureaucracy, which is still used today and substitutes doctors and judges requesting different procedures for every patient.
i think i might translate her wiki page to english soonish and then post it even if it's not news anymore.
