[ The days following the triumphant return of the draftees saw Chouji considerably more subdued and antisocial than he'd usually be. This is said taking into account the fact that he's generally not usually the withdrawn type at all. Journal posts got looked at and generally went without replies, for the most part, and he made an unintentional habit of not going through the more populated areas of town.
He hasn't felt like he'd make for decent company or conversation lately, and Chouji is also not the type to push potential bad company on people. Comes from the matter of a simple guy having a simple problem: he hates hurting people, he's in a profession that requires it, and he spent a few days out at war doing just that and worse. For having all the optimism and friendliness in the world, it's easier to give yourself space until there's nothing to potentially worry people with.
...but today he wakes up and it feels like a new day. Like a distinct little voice in the back of his mind has kicked in and refused to leave: a person can't spend forever hiding just because they had to do things they're not proud of. He's still alive and the sun is still shining, and he's never let anything keep him from trusting to the best of things. He knows any number of people still at home who would be disappointed if he did.
So everything is going to be fine. ]
I guess it really is New Feather season already, huh? My name is Akimichi Chouji; I know Luceti can be different, but the people here are really nice, too.
So just ask if you need anything and a lot of us will be glad to help you settle in. [ pauuuuuse, considering asking how a ton of people are...and deciding not to bother them, huh. ]
[ Also. Guess what you're getting a little while after you retreat from breakfast this morning, Shikamaru? A knock on the door, because your BFF is going to be assertive today. ]
((not to say that Chouji can't be caught walking around town, of course. ))
