Next Big Thing 7
To sum up the weekend; today I went to 97X's Next Big Thing. This was the most hooked up I have ever been at a show. I got an all access pass from Universal and it was awesome. I started the day watching the Silversun Pickups. They had a really great sound. After the Pickups were All Against Me. They had a great sound. With my pass I was able to go to the Miller Lite tent. Pretty awesome.
After the tent I went to the lawn for a bit and hung out with my sister. It was good seeing her.
I got bored and decided to roll backstage. It was amazing. The first person I ran into was Tom Delonge. Ha. I ran over and said hello. It was pretty cool. After that I went on stage and met Paramore. I talked to Haley for a minute. She said she remembered me which was nice of her to say. After that I went to the artist area. They had free beer which I enjoyed. In one little area was Paramore, The Starting Line and Coheed and Cambria.
I kicked it for a bit and then went to the Miller Lite deck to hang with Amy and Melissa. Our friend David Mayer was the official Miller Lite beer bottle. It was awesome. He dressed up as a beer bottle for Miller to get into the show and spent the day being hugged by old tatted up dudes. We went back to the backstage area for Paramore's set and ran into the singer of Jimmy Eat World. We met him too which was awesome. We all got to watch Paramore from the stage. I knew they'd blow up. They sounded great and made a ton of new fans.
In the memory of Johnny Minardi I also used my backstage pass for good. I went and got my sister's boyfriend and walked him onto the floor so he could watch his favorite band Chevelle. For a three piece they were pretty amazing. After them was Angels And Airwaves. Angels And Airwaves is probably the worst live band I have ever heard. After them was Rise Against which were great. After them was Jimmy Eat World. I've never seen them live and they blew me away. They might be the best sounding live band I have ever heard. They played a great set. All of the hits.
I have two weeks left of college. I couldn't think of a better weekend to complete the end. I have two papers left and I will be a college graduate. I'm waiting on some jobs but things are looking good. We have another vocal session for the new song and hopefully some shows this week. Beyond that; what an amazing weekend. It took some work, but I'm glad to have made it this far in music.
