I'm still here! *Waves* Candi, it's been a bugger of a year for everyone, hun, so there's no need to explain yourself to us. We're all family here, and I know I speak for the rest of the gang when I say we HUGELY appreciate everything you do for the community.
I've found it hard too - the work/homelife balance has been WAY out of proportion this year, with me spending nearly all of my time working 70 hour weeks, to the point of total burnout a couple of months ago. So I know how you feel and how frustrating it can be to watch the year just WOOOOOOSH past without so much as a by your leave. But like I said, we're still all here, we're still devoted to N3 and nothing is going to change that.
Have a totally awesome Christmas everyone - wishing you all peace, happiness, laughter and some damn fine nom-noms from this side of the 'Pond', and I'll see you all in the New Year to spread the Colby!love!
It's a little sad that 2011 has been such a year for folks, but the end of the year always makes me feel a little more hopeful. At least I know in 2012, I shouldn't have to move or find a new job. That's something that hasn't happened to me in about ... 4 years. LOL. I actually posted some drabbles for the first time in almost a year yesterday, so that's a good sign for me. I haven't felt inspired by much but the past month has been very good for me in that respect so here's hoping I'll get some life back in me and share it with all of the fandom... here and my other communities.
I hope that you and your have a totally fantastic Christmas and that your new year brings you peace and laughter and a little more time to play as well. :)
I feel like RL has been taking over my fandom life for the past 3 years. LOL. I've either been moving or looking for a job or settling into a new job. This one is at least a little more permanent so that I can choose when I leave. That helps in the fandom department because it's one less thing I have to worry about. :)
Thanks for the support and encouragement darlin'. I'm so glad I know you; I count it as one of my blessings from 2011. *hugs
kes_cross told me that he was there... I missed the airing by a day. CBS usually plays it again but I can't find when. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't find any pictures. They usually have some from SOMEONE up on Getty Images by now. No idea what's happening with that, but hopefully they'll turn up soon. :)
Yeah, when they show it on TV... we usually aren't missing much. They spend more time yacking to people about nothing than they do showing us who we want to see... namely Dylan. Last year, I was so looking forward to seeing Emmeli ski and they didn't even show it either time! *head desk*
I'm a newbie to the online community but not new to Numb3rs . . . I did my undergraduate degree in physics/mathematics, so I actually used to watch N3 to encourage me to do my homework. *sweatdrop* Now I just watch it when I miss my old life too much after a career change into law. Since S1 in particular was accurate with its math, it was actually pretty beneficial. Then I got hooked on the characters and plot, and it was all downhill from there.
Can we get some fic challenges? It looks like the Numb3rs gen-fic comm is dead :(
You fit right into this community then, especially since I feel for you. I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics and in chemistry and I decided to pursue the chemistry part of that combination. There are a lot of days I wish I would have stuck with math, but that's why life's a journey... not a destination, right
( ... )
The math was actually great for a lot of the show. The COMAP mathematical modelling competition in 2010 was actually based on criminal geographic profiling - when the problem dropped, I read it and started flailing with delight because I actually knew what to do, and dragged my team to the top 20% worldwide on the problem. Though my prof holds that I really should have tried to solve it using a stochastic model instead. D:
I think monthly prompts would be good, with no real limit on word-count. I think having a really loose structure would make it easier for more people to participate. :D
Monthly prompts, no word-count. I like it. I haven't done a monthly challenge here before. I tried to do one every other month but things didn't always work out so I stopped. But, maybe doing a simple monthly challenge would work. If you have any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, let me know. I'm open to most things. :)
I'm hoping that we'll see some more activity around here in 2012. I'm going to TRY to be better about participation. The fandom is still alive, even if we have to work harder to keep it that way.
Thanks for the congratulations! It's definitely been an interesting year. LOL.
