Relying upon others for happiness and depending upon others for happiness are distinct. Complete dependence neglects the particularity of experience, yet forgetting our dependence upon others (and on our surroundings generally) for our happiness is to neglect necessarily influential particulars. I still struggle to figoure out the roles and functions of our shared connectedness (I mean our broadly, but you can look at it strictly in terms of our relationship if you so choose) to others and to humanity. We experience individually, yet we share experience, and thus happiness.

I understand your sentiment, I just want to remind of that special connection we fundamentally share (you are, after all, sharing these insights with others on the internet) that is so easily neglected or taken for granted (sharing the world is as assumed as breathing and eating). That the individuals we share with also are particularly historical and yet wholly conceived selves amidst similarly particular connections and dependencies to others and humanity---that we live in a world of actors with motives we can never fully see or understand---is similarly difficult.

Cheers,
Michael
