The wife and I are making a trip up to Portland to look at housing. Are there any areas you would recommend looking at?
We want something a bit different, and I really like the feel of your place (from the photos). We are looking for something quiet, with decent amounts of green space. It would also help if the homes had some character as well.
We are both ready to get away from the horrid traffic and stress of silicon valley, and look forward to something more peaceful.

As with all things, it depends on your budget. We live in a suburb called beaverton, but our house backs to greenspace owned by the state. You can live minutes from portland in the middle of a forest, but that'll cost you more of course :)
I haven't seen a "bad" area to live in in Portland. Some lower income etc, but still not bad.
You're welcome to come stay with the wife and I if you want to save the hotel fair, we've got a spare room downstairs.. provided I can clean it up from the construction work I'm doing :p
We are coming up with a some other friends of ours, and got some hotel rooms at a nice place in downtown. We are going for the full experience (tourist stuff the first day, and potential future resident stuff the next two). I do very much appreciate the offer though
