A posting by bassbehr has inspired me... inspired or ruffled my feathers or fanned my flames or something like that... Anyway... some random thoughts compiled together randomly as they came to me

Last year at camp I slept around with a lot of people... How will I change that impression of me now that I have a monogamous boyfriend? How will people believe that Barry is "the one" and that I'm honestly not interested in "sleeping around" anymore? Should I care about what others think of me?
What others think really doesn't matter. The way to alter the perception of yourself with them, if you want to do so, is to smile radiantly and say: "Barry and I are monogamous." The radiant smile is the key (and judging from your icon, you have no need to practice). Repeat as often as necessary, behave consistently, and then forget it.
There's a limit to where "not caring what others think" can go too far though, isn't there? I mean the unabomber probably didn't care at all what others thought... We've got to find that happy median where we care enough to send the very best: but not everything we have and not a mail bomb.
Ah, but there's the rub; t me, what you're talking about is caring what YOU YOURSELF think. Because you're talking about morality, and your morality is your own, and self-directed.
The difference is knowing that, and not letting other people direct you to do things you don't want to do.
In my case, I do what I want, and care only what I and a few treasured others think. Oh, and of course, what the law says. *lol*

The key to not caring what people think is not caring what people think. It's both easir and harder than it sounds. It just takes practice.
With me, I do care what selected people think; it's only the general populace who can go suck it if they don't like what I'm doing. *lol*
