So I've finally finished reading Pride and Prejudice. It's taken me a long time to read it. This is nothing to do with not really enjoying the book. In fact, I loved just as much as I thought I would before starting it, if not more. This is due to that I got to see much more of the inner thoughts of the characters than I ever did in the film and television adaptations. I got to really see the reasoning behind Charlotte Lucas's actions, and realised that she helped to encourage certain sentiments, which I never seemed to catch on the screen. I also have even more admiration for Julia Sawahla's performance as Lydia in the iconic B.B.C. adaptation - she makes the character much more sympathetic and likeable than she is in the book. I really need to watch it again, because I feel I'll be watching it all with fresh eyes, which is an exciting prospect.

No, the reason that it's taken so long to read is that it's actually been a pretty busy and distracting month for me. I've been reading lots of fan fiction, and have finally plucked up the courage to start writing some. I've had a lot of Cherik plots rattling round in my head, and just had to put some of them down in writing. I also thought it would be good practice as I really do want to be published at some point (Doesn't everyone nowadays lol?). I also thought it would help as I might get some impartial and constructive criticism. So I have now got an A.O.3. account with the same user name as this journal, and I'm busy slowly writing and posting my first fic. It's pure fluff really.

It was also my birthday last month. I turned 31 *cries into a large, stiff drink*. It was pretty awesome, as it lasted for a week by the time I'd been out on a trip with my mum to Manchester, received loads of presents, and met up with another friend that I hadn't seen since July.

I've also been on job search course through my job centre, as I've been out of work on and off for a while, other than a couple of temporary jobs. They gave a decent talk, worked through some pointers and tips to help me improve my chances of gaining employment, and jazzed up my C.V. It seems to have paid off as well, as I start a trial on Tuesday as a trainee office administrator. So very happy right now, but don't want to get too over-excited. Will celebrate properly when it's no longer a trial, and I'm officially taken on properly. Fingers crossed.
