I'm moving into my first "adult" (no roommates, no closet-sized studio) apartment soon! I'm really excited to do things like buy furniture, and I've collected so many prints, paintings, and drawings over the years and will finally have the space and the finances to do them justice in my home

You're very lucky that you don't have to repaint when you leave. That's practically unheard of! (At least in my experience.)
I agree that painting the baseboards would be nice. It would add a POP to just about anything that you put on the walls, given you paint. I'm honestly no good with color suggestions, but I think that maybe you should stick with a more neutral/understated palette. The natural light is gorgeous and I think anything too bright may take away from that.

I had a great feeling about the place when I found it... the landlady is a bit sassy but loves all of her tenants and calls us her "kids." so I do consider myself pretty lucky for not needing to repaint in a year or two!
she asked that I stay away from painting any of the wood/baseboards, so I think I'll need to stay with a neutral palette anyway. but anything but white!
