In the 1970s my dad worked at San Quentin California State Prison. My step-mother gave me his briefcase and some of his personal notebooks. There were some old 8x10 photos of the prison in his briefcase.

This photo is the most interesting. On the back: Date Aug. 1 1957; old spanish cell block "senior citizen cell". Built 1890 and demolished 1958 ( Read more... )

We've been cleaning the attic this week and recovered a box of old photos from one of the eaves. This is my great-grandparents livingroom in Summitville, Indiana. I like how sparse the room is, even though it's from the Victorian era.
