String tree how-to

In the past I've had people request instructions on how to recreate the string tree I made in my living room. While I don't have a full tutorial, I do have enough to get you going so you can hopefully recreate this fun project at home.

I didn't do the foliage/lights, I hired corey@mythicwebdesign.com who did my web design and coding. He's great!

Oh, my apologies for the misunderstanding.

The foliage was done with fun fur yarn strewn sideways atop the branches. It was good for the African trees because their foliage tends to go sort of sideways. I haven't found a satisfactory way to do it otherwise.

The lights were two sets of icicle Christmas lights. We just used the existing string tree and pushed the lights onto the pushpins that were already there. When Christmas was over we just unwound them from the pins.

how dusty does it get?

I'm sitting right beside it now and I can't find any. I have two cats and it's never gotten hairy.

super creative! how did you get the idea for this?

My husband actually thought of it. When he was a little kid he always thought it would be cool to do but he couldn't ever get it right because he's not very good at drawing trees. When we redid our living room he told me about his idea and I built it the very next day. : )

I love your paint color! I have the same color floors and I just repainted this weekend. I was torn for at least a week over picking a color, couldn't find a brown that felt right. I finally just went with light blue instead but seeing your room is making me kick myself.
