Sorry these are late. My husband and I just moved into our very first home together at the end of November. We bought a new construction, modest sized rancher, three bedroom, two bath on an acre in a very small NC town. Needless to say, the holidays just kind of whooshed by, but we did manage to get us situated and the house decorated a little for Christmas. These were taken a few weeks ago.
Looking into the living room from the dining room area. There are windows on either side of the fireplace. We will eventually putting a flatscreen above the fireplace and frame it with some moulding.
Shot from corner of living room, looking back into the dining area. The pictures on that wall above the loveseat really need to be scooted down a little but we had some trouble hanging them and I didn't want to put a second hole. I like my art to make 'friends' with the furniture, y'know?
Needed to lighten up the dark wood in the living room. Had some extra bulbs and ornaments and put them in a tray for free-to-me holidayish decoration.
Looking back towards the door. Those are part of the
Ruth Frank's Italian Tile print series staggered in the odd space between the front door and nearest window.
The armoire. The picture doesn't do it justice.
By request, I've added some detail of the armoire. These were taken earlier and we are having a spectacular sunny morning. Light pretty much floods the living room and I don't yet know how to completely compensate with my point and shoot, so not the best. Detail of the top.
I deliberately use the flash on this next picture, to hopefully pick up the burled wood panels.
The bottom section of the armoire is bowed. The cabinet is broken up into two pieces and each weighs around 200-300 pounds.
Going down the hall. We're going to do a gallery of family pictures on that right wall.
First set of doors on the left is the laundry. On the right is a small coat closet, followed by the first guest bedroom. Very utilitarian right now, but it will be a project for later. Excuse the vaccuum.
