Iraq Conflict

So the Iraq war continues to struggle on. I wonder if the plan all along for Iraq was to draw the terrorists away from America permanently. As long as we're there, the biggest objective for the terrorists is to get it away from us, killing civilians in America is secondary.

I hope I'm not paranoid, but I have a feeling this war in a iraq may be the beginning of the next crusade, another war over religion. And Oil.

I feel sorry for the people of Iraq. They're going to be holed up in this war for a long period of time. Maybe a generation. But I am glad of it for one thing; it's not like that here. As long as we're there, the only terrorist plots we hear of are hockneyed plans of "terror cells" around the world. Morons who have bought into the Al Qaeda network without realizing that none of these terrorist leaders do anything to put themselves at risk. For all their talk of martyrdom they don't involve themselves in any plans that would create a possibility of getting caught.

Or the more likely alternative, they're dead. C'mon... Osama's dead; nothing they show is at all recent looking, especially considering that with the money Al Qaeda has to throw around, they could easily edit the crappy looking footage they have to make things look more recent. I wouldn't be surprised if Osama was dead before the attacks even took place. I personally don't think Al Qaeda is currently our biggest threat. We tore down the foundations of their network and froze most of their bank accounts. There are bigger terrorist threats, and my feeling is they probably will originate from Iraq. We've dug ourselves a deep hole and the worst part is we can't just climb right out; we have to stay down there until we've dug a dry well. It's sad to me that most of the money we've poured into Iraq has been to rebuild it's oil infrastructure with new ownership flags. About as sad as the fact that we didn't protect it's art museums when we started our occupation. What kind of regime is going to grow out of a situation like that? Either a puppet regime or a regime we won't like.

The death toll keeps climbing while the resistance keeps growing. Sound familiar? Opposition to the war in Iraq hit a new high today. Does that mean it's getting worse or staying the same? There's no real way to tell. We don't get in depth coverage of the war. We see 10 second segments of what look like failed takes of army recruiting videos. I'd like to have a real strong feeling about the war, but I'm isolated from it. Hell, nobody even has the balls to make a TV show about it. No, I'm not asking for a MASH version 2.6, but something. Couldn't you at least send Jack Bauer to Iraq or something? I'm left hating the war in Iraq from when it was front page hour long segment news. I don't know whether I want us to remain in Iraq or start to pull out, but I'd like a better idea of what might happen. News stations have no balls these days.
