Okay, so this year's Yaoicon was especially fun because I went with Greg, my friend from the real world who likes yaoi. He was a great travel buddy and willing to pretty much follow me around to wherever I wanted, so I always had someone to chill with.

We got there Friday night and went to the Saiyuki Room Party pretty much directly after the opening ceremony and charity auction (there was a Kouga Yun signed poster! But it went for like $400, so, uh, all things considered, good thing I didn't buy it.) dotiscute and motorbike were bartenders, and there were many new themed drinks to be had! I think I made it to six or seven, which for me is fair bit. I hung out with jibii, thefacelessevil, sadieko, shadow_wolfwind, maiea, and many others whose LJs I didn't remember to get. I also got disqualified from the trivia contest, but I won two posters first.

Saturday we went to the panel about the history of shoujo and yaoi. There were two professors discussing the genres from a feminist perspective, and one of them was a lesbian who credited stuff like Kaze to Ki no Uta with helping her with her sexuality, and it was totally amazing. XD Then Miyamoto Kano took questions about why she likes bitchy uke and how her favourite movies are My Own Private Idaho and Transamerica. I asked a stupid question about what she listens to when she writes (techno and trance.) Later in the day there was another Q&A and I got my volume 3 of Rules signed.

I also bought like $200 worth of manga and doujinshi, went to the AMV contest (some were really bad, most were just okay, a couple were hilarious), spent a lot of time in the library, and gave dark_kenjie incorrect information and a hug. I missed the panel on lesbians and yaoi because I set the alarm clock wrong, and I forgot to bring my camera or hairbrush, but that was pretty much all that went wrong.

Sunday afternoon Greg and I went to Union Square to bum around a bit before our flight. The buildings were so amazingly gorgeous. Ghirardelli's had all their Halloween chocolate on half price, so I got some, and we went to GameStop, where I picked up Rhapsody for $10 because I always wanted to play it but not badly enough to spend more than $10 on it.

Anyway, now I'm back, and it's time to work on final essays. Wish me luck.
