A small rant

So I went to Vancouver on Friday and Saturday to visit Judah. It was awesome, I had metric tons of fun, he took me to the best bakeries in the universe (Solly's and Goldilocks) and I bought a pair of $300 heeled orange sandals for $150.

The only weird thing was that we went to Gastown, and there was an anti-vaccine demonstration going on. And this is one of those things that drives me NUTS. Like, I understand the worries about pharmaceutical companies, and a lot of them are legit. But there is a line between "Big Pharma knowingly sells meds that do nothing/have weird side effects in order to make money" and "Big Pharma knowingly sells vaccines that KILL CHILDREN/GIVE THEM AUTISM OHNOES in order to make money." And the latter, to me, is the same as the mass hysteria about murderous Satanic cults running daycares in the 80s. It comes from people whose fear for the welfare of their children will allow them to believe anything, whether or not there is any proof, and whether or not it is logical.

So in summary, I feel sorry for people who believe this shit, but I feel sorrier for their kids, who are unintentionally being exposed to worse problems out of a misplaced sense of parental duty.

By the way, everybody, nothing gives your kids autism but BEING BORN AUTISTIC. And there is no cure because it is NOT A DISEASE. THANK YOU.
