Okay, here are some things I really like that I don't think I've talked about before, but that I wish more people knew about.
(Comic)
Goodbye Chains: This is a fucking amazing comic and the fact that more people don't know about it is tragic. It's about a semi-sociopathic conman and an explosives-making communist, and they rob banks in the Old West. It is wacky. It is hilarious. It is occasionally sort of depressing in the way that stories about bank robbers in the Old West tend to be. (And Colin is pretty much like Vash the Stampede.) Honestly, just go read the first bit, and if you aren't interested yet, you are crazy.
(Fanfic)
Welcome to the Broom Closet: The advertisement sat innocently on the lower left corner of page six of The Daily Prophet, written in blocky text on a plain white background.
"IF YOU CAN READ THIS, YOU ARE QUEER."
"What the hell?" said Harry. "Look at this advert!"
...
Ron leaned over to look where Harry was pointing and frowned. "Half-price cauldrons at the Cauldron Castle? What's wrong with that?"
Harry turned towards Ron, words of indignation dying on his tongue, and then looked back at the paper.
"IF YOUR FRIEND CAN'T READ THIS, THEN HE IS NOT QUEER. BUT YOU CAN. SO YOU ARE."
Okay, so I have this problem. I don't actually like Harry Potter that much anymore. But the fact is, the HP fandom is so fucking big that it's not difficult to find fairly good, long fics. So sometimes I go looking for fic. And I found this, which I like for a few reasons: the writer actually put some actual magical stuff in the story, it's pretty funny, and... I don't know... it's kind of sweet, eventually. It's H/D (which incidentally, I loved in elementary school, most strongly around the time before Book 4 came out) so it's also kind of OOC, but frankly I do not care much about canonical characterization when I read HP fanfic. Anyway, there must be at least one Harry Potter fan on this flist. And they should read this.
