I haven't posted anything I've written in a long time. So here is more dumb Infinity_Gingetsu/Ran. Unfortunately not porn. But the porn will come! At some point!
The key is to put one foot in front of the other. Just like this. And then, one more time. And eventually he loses track of the steps, but it doesn't matter, because nothing bad is going to happen. He just needs to keep telling himself that it's not that far. He'll be there soon. He's already crossed the street and gone down two blocks, ignoring the overwhelming light and noise as best as he can, and the hardest part is over. Just one more step. And then another.
He's more than halfway there. If he turns back now it will only take him longer to go home again. He can do it.
When he actually reaches the door it's a miracle; he's so relieved he can barely think. His hand starts for the buzzer. Only then does he realize that Gingetsu-san may not be at home. Or worse, he might be home but really busy, and maybe he doesn't want company. Maybe he would only be a bother.
But. "Come visit me sometime," Gingetsu-san had said, pressing his business card into his hand. "Whenever you're up to it. You are always welcome."
Ran runs his hand over the business card, slightly the worse for wear, in his jeans pocket. Then he takes a deep breath and rings the buzzer.
"Yes?"
"It's me. I mean, it's Ran. You said I..."
But he doesn't have to say anything more, because the door swings open and there's Gingetsu-san. He's got his sunglasses, as always, but not his headset, and he's wearing a grey sweater and black courdroy pants, and Ran thinks even if he leaves now, it's worth it just to have seen him in something other than a suit.
"Ran. Is there something wrong?"
He shakes his head emphatically. "No. No! I'm fine, everything is fine. I just... you said I could come and visit, so... is, is this a bad time?"
"Not at all. Have you had dinner yet?"
"No," and in a sudden exhalation of truth he admits, "I was too nervous...."
"Well." Ran has never really seen Gingetsu-san smile. But now he does, very briefly, and it means more than any other kind of congradulations could. "I'll make some, then."
Gingetsu-san leaves the doorway, gesturing for Ran to follow him. And Ran, with his heart pounding in his ears, complies.
