Suikoden OMG OMG

Welcome back, people who went to Otakon! So... how many of you guys are also going to Yaoicon...?

On another note! As a special present to myself for my birthday, I had Judah use his eBay account to order me a copy of Suikoden V. It came last week. I started playing it yesterday.

I love Suikoden. I was one of the first RPGs I ever played, back when there was an awesome used game store in the strip mall at University Heights, and my copy is still in brilliant condition. II I rented from Blockbuster and narrowly missed my chance to buy in a moment that will haunt me forever. III I did buy, and still adore to pieces. IV... well. I played the beginning of IV and then decided it didn't actually exist. And V went on sale a little bit before I went on vacation and was seemingly out of print when I got back. But now it is mine.

And it is so, so good. Everything about it just fills me with glee. Prince Stacey's amazing girliness! The hints of upcoming intrigue and battles! Arshtat's huge sleeves! Sialeeds' badass awesomeness and side... well, actually, front-pony! GEORG FUCKING PRIME! I can't even hate Lymsleia's voice.

It really is way more like II than like III. Especially with the loading times and camera angles (and little flocks of birdies that scatter when you run forward!). But I loved II, so guess what? I don't care. It just means the entire experience becomes that much more nostalgic.

The only thing is, having now played Fire Emblem, the tactical battles I used to love so much now seem pretty silly. Fun, but... I like the dorky running your little guys do all over the bizzarely fuzzy map.

My favourite character so far is Sialeeds. She appears to get all the best lines and is also smokin' hot. I also like Lyon.
