The classes I'm taking this semester are Japanese, Italian, Intro to Women's Studies, and Cultural Studies.
I think Cultural Studies is going to be my favourite of the four. Dr. Blank (real name) is both hysterically funny and unrelentingly critical of capitalism, which is always a fun combintion to have in a prof. The class works nicely in conjunction with Women's Studies, because most of the class is female, so we've ended up talking a lot about femininity and cultural shit about little girl development.
Intro to Women's Studies has been funny so far because most of the people in the class are not actually feminists. So there's been a lot of "what's wrong with marriage" and "but what about the MENZ?" and that sort of thing. Our first real lecture was Thursday, and it dealt with the waves of feminism, which is something I never quite understood and now understand more! Yay!
Japanese and Italian are both language courses. And that's about all there is to be said.
There isn't much going on in my life besides school right now. I'm learning the Habanera from Carmen, and that's exciting and challenging, particularly since my French is shit. What is it with this language and silent consonants? It's almost as bad as English. And that's sad.
Oh. I saw Superbad the other night! It was really funny and charming. And shockingly true to the reality of high school. Getting ridiculously drunk so as not to creepily take advantage of a drunk girl? Well played.
