So...that scary noise my laptop's been making? I finally got my tech-certified brother to hear it.
After some prodding, I got him to open it up today, thinking the internal fan just needed cleaning.
It doesn't.
The hard drive is dying on me.
The good part: I can just replace the hard drive, and since my brother caught it now, I haven't lost anything. (I'm currently backing up my whole computer to my external hard drive.) I've also peeked at Best Buy and it seems that I can get a 250GB-sized internal hard drive for $50, which is a lot less than I expected for a lot more memory disk space (my brother has already given me the memory vs. disk space lecture) than I have on my laptop right now. (I think I have like...80?) Since I listen to a lot of music and take lots of photos, this disk space boost is a nice little upgrade.
The bad part: I can barely keep my computer on for ten to fifteen, maybe twenty minutes before it starts making noises. >.< So I'll probably be mostly on my phone or on the family computer. It also means, unless I do go out tomorrow and pick up the new drive, that I won't be able to do a webcast on Sunday like I was planning. D:
*sigh*
First my wheelchair gets a squeaky wheel, then I nearly lose my phone, now this. Laaaaame.
*headdesk*,
*facepalm*,
wtf?!,
tech fail,
epic fail
