Life still going well up here in the melting/frozen land of Alaska. On my last week of knife making class, and should finish my second knife today. Have my first job interview this afternoon, at an engineering firm called "Design Alaska" (http://www.designalaska.com/departments.htm). Kinda nervous about it as I don't have any engineering experience as of yet, but methinks my physics background should do me well. I also have contacts I need to tap in the DOT, and see how that pans out. If push comes to shove, I can always continue to work at Purchasing and Procurement, but it would be very nice to get a job closer to my major.
As far as personal life, that is going very well. Had a tour of an apartment on Sat, and if all goes well, we should be able to rent it (fairly high on the list of potential tenants). Its a 2 bedroom, 1 bath place that is unfurnished but does come with a fridge, oven, stovetop, and coin op washer/dryer. Granted, it is $900/mo + Elect, but as far as Fairbanks goes, it is a decent deal. The major plus is that it is about as close to being on campus as you can get while still being off campus (literally a 10 min walk from my current Res Hall). The only real downside to it is that it is on the second floor and the stairs going up to it are rather narrow and have a couple 90 degree turns- going to be fun trying to get stuff up there (such as bed/mattress and the like). Should be good for Chaia and I though, if we can land it ^_^.
