it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality

so, V-day is coming up again. i was sad about this, but then Britt and I decided that instead of feeling sorry for ourselves for not having boyfriends we should have a 'Single and Fabulous Exclamation Point' dinner and go out somewhere fun with all of our single friends (so pretty much everyone lol). Hopefully we're going to this cute place on Newbury Street in downtown Boston. Boston is such a cool place, and I love going into the city. the only problem is that in l.a. i always know where a good restaurant is, but here it's kind of hit and miss if a place will be good or not. and the day after valentine's i'm giving blood, so I'll be out for the rest of the day (haha Chantene, remember us at aroma that one time??). I did sign up to donate on Valentine's day, but then I couldn't handle the idea that not only was I not going out for a romantic dinner and getting some sort of gift, I was giving blood, so I switched it. plus, huuge psych test on wednesday that I need all my blood for lol.

costume parties are amazing, and this weekend we had not one but two. on friday night I went to a toga party, which is so terribly stereotypically college that I couldn't have been happier lol. my friends and I spend a good 15 minutes just trying to put on our togas (it's a lot harder than movies make it look), but eventually we got it and headed to the party. I had an awesome time, even though i had one too many cups of jungle juice (wow, even the name is shifty lol) and when the cops broke it up (two people got TEMS'd! come on, people...) I headed home and got some sleep. Anyway, that was fun, but what was the best party i've been to this semester was the 'punks and monks' party last night. I went as a monk, which basically meant trying to look like Angelina Jolie in 'Tomb Raider' when she goes to that temple and wearing some cool jewelry. I think the costume was a success, and I definitely stood out - pretty much everyone was a punk. I guess it's an easier costume to put together, but I liked mine a lot. i love costume parties, it's like mini-Halloween, and I love Halloween.

I can never understand the weather here. I sort of assumed it would be snowy and terrible the whole time, but it's actually been nice the last couple weeks. Then it snows today and there's 'blizzard warnings' and tomorrow might be a snow day!! (knock on wood). I've always wanted a snow day, so that will be cool just for being such a novelty. anyway, it's beautiful, but it means that Pilates got cancelled today. this is probably a good time to mention that I started going to pilates classes. it's sooo l.a. lol, but it's actually incredibly relaxing. I'm seeing how that goes because I really am not walking to the gym every day. I think my roommate and I are ordering dinner in tonight - I'm going to see if I can go a whole day without leaving my dorm.

okay, back to public opinion reading. fun fun fun!
