Title: Descending Darkness
Author: Sasusc
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters: 10th Doctor, Rose Tyler
Words: 347
Summary: A little scene from one of my favorite WIP which is sort of an episode tag for "Doomsday" and so fits into Series 4 theme about alternate realities being created around Donna. It was inspired by Stargate SG-1's episode "Gamekeeper" where they are stuck reliving a painful memory to get the "chance" to change it.
Series: 365 Days of Drabbles, Day Eleven
He was angry this time, and all the pent of anger and hurt he hid from her was bursting to be let out. And he didn’t care if she saw the rage he tried to keep hidden from his companions. It would be erased when the cycle restarts.
“You don’t realize how angry I get with you sometimes!” he shouted at her.
Rose flinched away from him. He had grabbed her moments ago, pulling her roughly behind him and into the TARDIS. She didn’t know what was wrong, but she was scared of this Doctor.
“Doc--”
He gave into his desire to shake her. “I had to keep reminding myself that you’re nothing but a stupid human. Stupid, stupid, stupid little human being with your fragile body. And as humans go, you’re just as typical as anyone with only lust on your mind. All those stupid boy toys you threw in my face--because you didn’t think I danced!--well, it just proved how stupid you are!”
Rose backed away from him. “I didn’t--I wasn’t throwing--”
He spun away from her, slapping the wall nearest to him. It hurt, but it didn’t hurt as much as she had hurt him years ago. “Oh, I can dance,” he said quietly. “I dance pretty well. You didn’t want to let me in, did you? Not as I was when we first met. You waited until the end…waited until my body was designed especially for you. And even then, you didn’t want me. Not at first. Oh, no! Rose Tyler from the Powell Estates wasn’t even happy with that--”
Rose slapped him. He might have deserved that, but he always deserved to show his anger and the pain this one little girl had inflicted on him. He stared at her coldly as the slow realization of what she had just done flowed onto her face.
“Doct--”
“Rose Tyler,” he interrupted her. “Your very existence hurts me… The mention of your name fills me with both hope and dread. The knowledge of you haunts me still.
