History Geek that I am...

I knew I loved history but this is ridiculous. Again, I have preordered the latest book in the series by Lauren Willig. Who knew I would like Napoleonic spies so much? The literary tool of mixing the past with the present keeps the reading fresh and entertaining, often requiring the reader to go back and refresh where he last was in the past or present. I've become a fan of Clive Cussler who uses the same construct of past intermingled with the present. Plus, Stephen Berry uses history as a basis for present action, going back and forth.

I am so rude that I convinced a close friend to give me Berry's latest book as a Hanukkah gift. He was going to get a book anyways; I just requested one that I would have bought for myself. Tacky, I know, but old friends let you get away with it. As he said, I'm "the only Jewish persons he knows who made a call to Santa." LOL

Thank you Santa/Hanukkah Harry!
