It's been an interesting couple of weeks. I sent my chair to get fixed on September 18. I got it back on the 29th. That's almost two weeks! Some of the parts were on backorder and others had to be specially made. So everything took a lot longer than expected. However, both motors need to be replaced. So he gave it back to me until they show up.

So I had to spend almost two weeks and my manual wheelchair. Needless to say my back was a wreck LOL. Then I found out that Nick got hired by the trucking company he applied with a lot sooner than expected. So this will be his last week working with me. So I called the homecare office and told them it was time to place an ad and look for some new help. They asked me if there was anything in particular I wanted in the ad. I told them to say it was in the mornings and college students are welcome to apply. Well, it's been a couple days and I've only gotten three calls. Today is Sunday so the phone should have been ringing off the hook. It's been absolutely dead. So I checked out the ad for myself. Here's what they ran:

General PCA's needed at UMD campus. Please leave message @ 724-****.

First of all I don't live on the UMD campus. It makes it sound like it's a job through the university. It's not descriptive enough. I should've written and submitted the ad myself like I did last time. It sounded like the person at the homecare office had a pretty good handle on what I wanted it to say. I guess not. Now I understand why someone left his student ID number on my answering machine LOL. So tomorrow I'm going to ask him to retract the ad and I'll put mine in:

PCA Needed In UMD Area
Disabled man w/CP needs PCA to fill A.M. shifts. College students welcome.

If you want something done right you need to do it yourself. The good news is I talked to my financial worker earlier this week. I'm getting an extra $81.00 a month. It's a grant that I've been eligible to receive for about seven years! No one ever told me and I had no idea to ask about it. So I got screwed out of about $6800 altogether. Well, at least I have it now. Since I got it at the end of the month I got last month's and this month's about the same time. So that's an extra $160 this month!

I have another doctor's appointment tomorrow regarding my back. So we'll see what this guy has to say. I'm going to ask to see a spine specialist. I'm also going to talk to him about getting a custom back rest.
There's not much else to report I guess. I hope everyone is doing well!
