~* Once Upon a Time... Winter Star was Born *~

Wow, so much to tell you and so little time!
* I thought the Emilie Autumn concert was magically splendid -- a memorable, artistic, enchanting performance...
* Brett and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll and devoured a decadent devonshire tea at "Queen of Tarts" in Belgrave on one of the Public holidays early in the year!
* When we experienced our 13th week scan: I felt like it was a surreal feeling to see our baby growing inside my own belly! Amazing - it certainly makes you think about the miracle and fascination of life in a whole new way...
* Recently I spent an entire afternoon browsing Spotlight (found a new hat to decorate, plus cool gothy buttons).
* I've been trying to cook more lately too. Very often we cook delightful homemade gourmet pizzas for dinner! Yum! I wear my "Desperate Housewife" apron while cooking! Recently I cooked tasty pumpkin soup and a mouthwatering mushroom rice dish and several luscious dinners including yummy "mediterranean rice and fetta stuffed tomatoes" and "eggplant, basil and ricotta parmigiana" - the verdict: very flavorsome and succulent!
* Whenever I felt the baby move it was a very surreal and weird sensation...
* I couldn't believe baby stores do not stock ANY dark colours AT ALL and apparently never will (in terms of bedding & blankets) - the shop assistant tried to sell me over-priced white sheets and told me to dye them purple or black. Wow.
* During the pregnancy, I didn't think I had ever felt so hungry in all my life...
* The babybat was moving & wriggling around a great deal during the pregnancy - it felt quite bizarre, like something swimming in my tummy! It also decided to kick me in the ribs at 2am most mornings.
* Recently I went to an illustrious Mad Hatter's tea party at Avril's place: a lovely purple/lilac-painted abode! It was a great deal of fun!
* The Tim Burton exhibition was truly spectacular and mind-blowing. Highly recommended! We were there for just over 2 hours but I wish I could have stayed for at least another two hours to really appreciate it all. Highlights were: Edward Scissorhands' costume and the hand itself; the Mad Hatter's hat and costume, and all the Corpse bride artworks & figurines...
* Since being on maternity leave I have attempted to accomplish a great deal including: setting up the nursery; shopping for essential items for baby and packing my bag for hospital; organised everything on shelves / cabinets and tidied up the house in general (an attempt at spring cleaning)!
* I've been having fun recently, researching rockabilly and gothabilly vintage 1950s pin up gal fashions and styles... I really admire these styles and would like to incorporate them into my look.
* We finally started watching the True Blood series... Wow, very original show & mind-blowing. Vinnie from Home and Away is brilliant. :o)

Our daughter was finally born on 24th September and it has been an absolutely surreal experience and I am still coming to terms with it. Her name is Winter Star, and she is a blessing, an absolute treasure. It was love at first sight for us when we first met her. I am so thankful that she is healthy and everything. The hospital staff were fabulous; I would definitely recommend SEPH because all the midwives are simply superb! I really enjoyed my stay there.
Winter is almost 2 months old now and everyone adores her - my in-laws, my parents, the uncles and other relatives all think she is beautiful and truly a "star". We are having a L'Chaim celebration this Sunday for her and it will be a big party at my in-laws' house with around 150 people all interested in meeting Winty (Elijah's nickname for Winter but my Mum has been calling her Winnie).
The pregnancy and delivery was definitely not a very pleasant experience and I had lots of issues to contend with but now that I have survived it I feel like a stronger woman and a stronger person in general. And I never forget that darkness glows with its own kind of light...
I cannot believe I am now 30 years old. Wow, I'm getting old & unfortunately feeling old too. What a splendid day on Cup Day for my birthday: we went to delicious Devonshire tea in Olinda (I ordered the Lemon-Blossom tea).
All I can say is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious about the best gift I could ever imagine: tickets to Mary Poppins the musical at Her Majesty's Theatre! We adored the show: Matt Lee as Bert was absolutely superb! And Verity was the perfect Poppins. I cannot get the songs out of my head now! [*Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, In a most delightful way *Now then what'd be nice, We'll start with raspberry ice & then some cakes and tea, Order what you will, There'll be no bill, It's complimentary *Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay!]
These days I feel like a shift worker -- with a human alarm clock that wakes me up every 2-3 hours... It is challenging and hard work but I am loving being a parent at the moment!
