- The pledge drive for Illinois Public Media ended this Sunday. I worked for two weeks operating the camera for the TV station. I can really tell this depression recession is affecting how much money people donate to public media. For the month of December the TV station was supposed to get 1000 calls: We received just over 900. I also heard the station has to "find" $200K sometime really soon. If not...it looks like I'll be looking for another job.
- This weekend Kevin and I decorated our Xmas tree. Unlike last year, this tree didn't piss me off with stupid crossed branches and branches at odd angles. I actually like this tree. It is fairly uniform and dense, and it has a nice shape, too. It is nice and triangular. It wasn't too frustrating to put the lights on. Just to say I actually decorated the tree with Kevin I helped him with some of the ornaments before I went to the TV station. The tree is beautiful!
- My finals are this week. Suffice it to say, this was my most successful semester at Parkland. Of course, my classes were fluff; I had to sign up for something since I have to pick electives. The good news regarding my educational front is that I will be done with Parkland College next semester. I only have to take three more courses -- which I already picked -- then I'm gone. I've said this before, but I really think I feel so lackadaisical is because of the educational environment at the school. The students just don't seem to have any heart, and that affects me. I don't know why, but it does. I can't wait to be gone.
- I still have to clean my goddamn cartridge games. They have been sitting on my shelf for the past month without any screws holding the plastic shells together. Once they are clean(ed), I'll display them prominently on my shelf and take pictures of them. I can't wait for that, too, but I won't be able to do that until after Tuesday.
- I just signed up for FaceBook. I had to do it to search out the photos of one of my co-workers from the TV station. Now, I really don't like social networking sites: I believe they are based on vanity instead of actual networking, but FB seems to be "grown up." Maybe my perception of social networking sites is based on MySpace, which is overflowing with fame-whoring little boys and girls. I find myself exhausted dealing with all the glittery text and look-at-me self-portraits. Enough of the narcissism. Please Illuminate yourself with something besides yourself. You have a pedestal. Please use it for something besides ego. Besides, I'm in control of my internet usage: If I get tired of this site, I'll just abandon it like a cheap whore in a run-down desert hotel.
